Welcoming Our New Facilities Manager: Scott Ledger

My name is Scott Ledger and I’m excited to have recently joined Te Pae Christchurch as the new Facilities Manager. I’ve worked in facilities management for more than ten years across a range of industries, which has given me a broad understanding of building operations, maintenance and the importance of creating environments that allow teams to do their best work. Before coming to Te Pae Christchurch, I was the Facilities Manager at Kaweka Hospital, where I was involved right from the build phase through to day‑to‑day operations. Being able to help shape a facility from the ground up was an experience I’m particularly proud of and one that taught me a lot about how strong systems and planning set a building up for long‑term success.

Joining Te Pae Christchurch felt like the right step for both my career and my family. We’ve been hoping to relocate to Christchurch for quite some time because we’ve always loved the area, so when this role came up, it immediately stood out. The scale and quality of the venue really impressed me, it’s an incredible facility, and the opportunity to work in the events industry was something that genuinely excited me. It’s a privilege to be part of a place that plays such a significant role in Christchurch and its community.

As I settle into my new role, my priority is to become a strong support for all departments across the venue. I want to ensure every area is receiving the level of service they need and that our systems and processes are working as effectively as possible. One of my early goals is to take a close look at how the building currently operates and identify where we can refine or improve our procedures. I enjoy understanding how systems fit together and finding ways to make them run more efficiently.

Outside of work, I’m a big football fan and a very proud Southampton F.C. supporter. I also enjoy running and it’s something that helps me to stay active and unwind.

Looking ahead, I’m particularly interested in exploring the setup of our Building Management System (BMS) and seeing where we can better utilise this system to support the facility’s performance. I’m also keen to look into how AI might play a role in facilities management, especially when it comes to data analysis and optimising predictive maintenance. There’s a lot of potential in that space and I’m excited to see what opportunities it could bring for us.
