Christchurch named a Trending Destination for 2027

Ōtautahi Christchurch has been recognised on the world stage, named one of Booking.com’s Trending Destinations for 2027.

The annual list highlights destinations around the world that are seeing growing interest from travellers, with Christchurch the only New Zealand destination featured for 2027.

Booking.com highlights the city’s transformation over the past 15 years, pointing to its architecture, public spaces and creative culture, alongside the Ōtākaro Avon River, Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

The city’s location also plays a part in its appeal, with the Southern Alps, Port Hills and nearby beaches putting a range of outdoor experiences within easy reach of the central city.

For Te Pae Christchurch, the recognition is another great reflection of what makes Ōtautahi an increasingly compelling place to bring people together. Delegates can experience a vibrant, walkable central city while having some of the South Island’s most memorable landscapes and experiences right on the doorstep.

Christchurch joins destinations including Reims in France, Monterey in California, Sendai in Japan and Bratislava in Slovakia on Booking.com’s 2027 list.
